North Hanover Township Office of Vital Statistics. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the North Hanover Township Vital Records is currently closed to the public. During this period, customers will be unable to request and pick up copies of vital records on site and to apply for Marriage licenses.  Customers may still place orders for vital records by sending requests online or via mail to the State Department of Health Office of Vital Records, PO BOX 370, TRENTON, NJ 08625; Online requests can be made through NJ.gov/Health/Vital. A Township Registrar is responsible for Marriage Licenses and Civil Union Licenses.  She is also responsible for Certified copies of a Marriage License, Certified Copies of a Birth Certificate and Certified Copies of a Death Certificate.

Marriage Licenses or Civil Union

The parties must apply in the municipality in which they live.  If you live on the Base, it must be Falcon Courts North.  If one person is from out of State, the other person must reside in North Hanover Township.  If both people are from out of State, they must be married in the municipality in which they apply.

When you apply, you must bring a witness who is 18 years or older with you.  It may be a family member.

The couple must have a photo ID, birth certificate and social security cards.  If one or both has been divorced, you must have your divorce decree(s).  If you are a widow or widower, you must have death certificate.

There is at least a 72 hour waiting period from the time you apply and the time the license will be ready for you to pick up.  Once you pick up your license, it is good for 30 days.

No blood test is required.

The cost of the license is $28.00.

PLEASE NOTE:  APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON LINE BUT MUST BE SIGNED IN THE PRESENCE OF THE TOWNSHIP CLERK OR THE DEPUTY CLERK.

Certified Copies of Vital Records

To Obtain Certified copies of a Marriage License, Birth Certificate, or Death Certificate, you must apply in the municipality in which the Marriage License was obtained, the municipality where they were born or where someone died. 

Only the following people may be issued a Certified Copy of a Vital Record:

  • the individual listed on the document
  • the subjects parents or legal guardian
  • spouse
  • child
  • grandchild or sibling (must be of legal age)

A grandparent may not obtain a copy of their grandchild's birth certificate.

The person requesting the record must show a photo drivers license with address or two alternate forms of ID with address.   They must prove their relationship with the person listed on the Vital Record.

The fee for a Vital Record is $25.00 and $5.00 for each copy thereafter.
